We’re well into 2017 now, so I thought I’d better give you an update on what’s been happening and what plans are in store for Tickets and Travels this year.
So Far this Year…
As you may know, this year is a gap year for me prior to starting a Geography degree at the University of Exeter. At the end of last year I was working hard in a full-time job at Porsche in order to save up for a summer of travels around South East Asia. However, come the start of the year I managed to get glandular fever. Yep, glandular fever, what a complete pain in the backside.
Since then I’ve been resting up and trying to wave goodbye to frequent naps, although it has meant that my flow of pennies isn’t as pretty as it was.
In the last couple of months I’ve been to Leeds to visit a friend at university and to The Photography Show in Birmingham (where I happened to meet Mollie from Where’s Mollie, what a lovely gal she is).
I’ve also been out and about in my local area visiting places such as Stowe Gardens and I attended my first blogger dinner with the Oxford Bloggers, where I met the lovely Hayley, Rachel, Abbey and Matt and chatted away about blogging and general life-ness.
In April, my boyfriend and I are going on a couple of trips, firstly to The Cotswolds and then to Cornwall.
The Cotswolds is around an hour away from where I live, but we’re booked into a Shepherd’s Hut that we found on AirBnB for a couple of nights, just to have a change of scenery and explore a bit. We’re planning to go on some country walks, visit cute tea rooms and hunt out lots of amazing views!
A couple of days after returning from the Cotswolds we’ll be heading off to Cornwall for a 4 night stay. We’re staying on the south coast in the Polperro area so I daresay we’ll be exploring some beaches, fishing villages and maybe some gardens (see a theme emerging here?).
In June/July I’m going solo in Europe, rather than SE Asia as I had originally planned, but I always think exploring the things on your doorstep is a good place to start. I’ve only just started planning but Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic are all on my list so far. I’ll definitely be writing posts all about planning my trip and my first experience of solo travel so there’s a lot to look forward to!
There’s a few more loose plans in the works including Edinburgh, Amsterdam and maybe even Sweden, but I’ll be sure to keep you updated!
Let me know what your travel plans are for the year in the comments below, I’d love to hear what you’re getting up to. Also, if you’ve visited any of the places I’ve mentioned please leave me any recommendations you have!
